CARING FOR BELL GREEN

Love Bell Green is a small local group taking practical, hands-on action to look after our neighbourhood.

Founded in 2023 by a local dad and his two kids, what began as litter-picking on the school run has grown into a long-term commitment to keeping Bell Green clean, cared for and improving. Over the past few years we’ve removed well over 1,000 bags of rubbish, cleared heavily neglected land, and continue to maintain streets, paths and green spaces so they don’t slide back into decline.

Cleaning up is only part of the work. We’re focused on improving the local environment for the long term — planting flowers, restoring neglected spaces, and showing what Bell Green can be when it’s properly looked after.

Alongside this, we push for the changes residents have needed for years. That includes better management of estate bins, streets being left tidy after bin collections, stronger action on fly-tipping, targeted use of CCTV and proper investigation at known hotspots, and real support for residents and community groups already working to improve their areas. We also highlight litter linked to local businesses — including supermarkets, retail parks and local shops — and campaign for responsibility and for outdated, overflowing bins to be upgraded.

We also want to inspire others to take action where they live. Too often people are told to wait, report it again, or accept decline as normal. Our experience shows that local residents can take control of their own spaces, improve them, and maintain them — even when the council is slow or unhelpful. Visible action changes expectations, raises standards, and makes neglect harder to ignore.

Love Bell Green exists to take action where it’s needed, to keep places tidy once they’re improved, to push for lasting solutions, and to show what’s possible when people care enough to get stuck in. Bell Green deserves better — and so do other communities like it.
